Iran has exported more than 24,000 tons of shrimp since the beginning of the current Persian year (started 21 March, 2018), official news agency IRNA reports.

“This year so far we have exported over 24,000 tons of shrimp,” said Hassan Salehi, head of Iran Fisheries Organisation, expressing hope that it increases to 30,000 tons by the end of the year (20 March, 2019).

Iranian shrimp exports during the last 10 months were worth more than 26 million dollars, according to the latest figures published by Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) that puts Kuwait and Vietnam on top of the list of destination for Iranian shrimp.

The Fisheries Organisation says each kilo of this marine animal is sold between 4.5 and 6 dollars, worth 150 million dollars annually.
