Iran, Albania regional gates for trade: Shafei

Visiting Iran Chamber of Commerce, Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati told Shafei that his country welcomed holding joint commissions to address opportunities for both countries to expand trade.

Heading a delegation of businessmen and trade officials to Tehran, Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati discussed the prospects of economic and trade ties with Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture President Gholam Hossein Shafei.

Visiting Iran Chamber of Commerce, the Albanian minister told Shafei that his country welcomed holding joint commissions to address opportunities for both countries to expand trade.

“My visit to Tehran addresses political and economic ties; both sides have meager information about the capacities for trade in the other side and officials should bring entrepreneurs from Iran and Albania to a common ground where they would discuss the hidden capacities abandoned unexhausted,” Albanian Foreign Minister said.

“Albania looks forward to working with Iran in energy, agriculture and tourism and we hail other possible grounds for cooperation as well,” Bushati added. “I will meet Javad Zarif, my Iranian counterpart and we will discuss a comprehensive list of options of investments in both countries, which also will address additional taxing in host countries to boost trade and investment.”

Albania exported a total of $86,600 of goods to Iran and imported $1.2 million.

Iran Chamber of Commerce President Gholam Hossein Shafei mentioned the potential areas of cooperation and trade saying the trade agreements would accelerate the slow pace of economic ties between Iran and Albania.

“Iran and Albania are gates of trade for Asia and Europe, thus the two countries have excellent capacities to improve ties” Shafei said.

Trade between two countries, Shafei said, are still very low. Islamic Republic of Iran is eager to boost trade with European countries and among them Albania could have a significant place.

Iran Chamber of Commerce President further mentioned his previous meeting with Albania deputy foreign minister saying that the Iranian side has issued an invitation for Albanian trade delegation to visit Iran Chamber and hold B2B meeting with their Iranian counterparts and that “Iran Chamber of Commerce is ready to host a joint ”

“Iran Chamber of Commerce is ready to receive Albanian delegation,” Shafei said.
