Iran Chamber of Commerce Deputy President Pedram Soltani says a strong team of Iranian private sector actors has been consolidated to participate at World Chambers Congress 2017.
“Active participation in the biennial World Chambers Congress is a springboard for the country’s private sector,” Soltani said. “Iran Chamber of Commerce, as the Iranian private sector’s parliament, has made special preparations for a strong presence at the event in Sydney.”
Referring to removal of international sanctions against Iran, Soltani further added that Iran Chamber of Commerce’s active participation at this year’s congress is “a golden opportunity to eliminate international concerns surrounding Iran and establish communication bridges with private sectors in other countries”.
The biennial World Chambers Congress (WCC) is due to be held on 19-21 September, in Sydney, Australia. A 30-strong business delegation from Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) will participate in this major international event and Pedram Soltani will be heading the Iranian delegation.
In addition to specialized workshops, panels and exhibitions, the WCC provides an opportunity for chambers of commerce from all over the world to compete with one another in four fields namely, social responsibility of chambers, their role in helping SMEs, education, and creative projects. On the sidelines of the event, an exposition on the theme of achievements by different countries’ chambers of commerce will be held, also attended by the ICCIMA.
The 10th WCC is expected to attract representatives from the private sectors from over 100 countries. As the main sponsor of the event, the World Chambers Federation (WCF) has selected, “Sydney: Where Business Connects”, as motto for this year’s event. Several meetings will be held in connection with the legal mandates of chambers of commerce, and the future of global industry and trade, during the three-day event. The ICCIMA and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce will be special sponsors of the World Chambers Congress.
The Iranian private sector should intensify its efforts, Soltani said, and now is the time to put an end to the long history of its failure to participate in international forums.
Noting the WCF General Council’s recent meeting in Paris, Soltani said that during the meeting he had proposed the establishment of a Sustainable Development Goals task force, which was subsequently adopted by the council, demonstrating that the Iranian private sector can play an active role through participation in international forums.
Iran Chamber of Commerce deputy president also stated that for the first time at this year’s event, two projects from the Shiraz and Isfahan chambers of commerce will compete with projects from other countries. He also said that he would serve as judge at this year’s competition.
