Kyrgyzstan says it wants to reach open waters through Iran as the country seeks wider economic relations with Iran and the Asian countries.

'Apart from Bandar Abbas, Chabahar Port is also one of those ports that gives access to the open waters and we hope we can reach an agreement in this regard,' Nuran Niyazaliev, First Kyrgyz Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said in a meeting with Iranian Roads and Urban Development Minister Mohammad Eslami on Sunday.

The Kyrgyz official said Iran's routes are very cost-effective and can give the Central Asian country access to open waters.

The Iranian ministers also stressed that Kyrgyzstan can use all the Iranian ports based on rule and regulations.

Kyrgyz official stressed the need for creation of joint companies especially in producing agricultural products.

Iran-Kyrgyzstan bilateral trade will help the two countries have a better understanding of their mutual trade capacities as Tehran is about to join a Free Trade Zone (FTZ) with the five-member Eurasian Economic Council (EAEU)
