Iran Chamber of Commerce says commercial exchanges between Iranian and Ukrainian provinces should be strengthened in a bid to boost trade ties between the two countries.

“Such cooperation will lead both countries to better use regional potentials. Razavi Khorasan Province has great investment and economic potentials due to its rich resources. Such is the case with Ukraine too,” said Gholam Hossein Shafei, President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) on Thursday.

He made the remark in a meeting with Ukrainian Ambassador to Iran Sergey Burdilyak in the northeastern city of Mashhad, the provincial capital of Razavi Khorasan.

Shafei is also President of Mashhad Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (MCCIMA).

The Ukrainian envoy noted that Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry president is willing to visit Iran again. Burdilyak said the visit could take place in autumn if the regional Iranian chamber of commerce is ready to host a business delegation from Ukraine.

He said Ukrainian regions of Kherson, Poltava and Kharkiv can be linked with some Iranian provinces. The official added that his embassy has proposed to the Iranian foreign ministry that two Ukrainian regions cooperate with Khorasan Razavi. He didn't give more details.

Burdilyak criticised Iran-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce for inactivity, calling for more efforts to strengthen bilateral trade relations.
