Iran, the Phillippines to develop bilateral trade relations

Iran and the Philippines are keen on developing bilateral trade ties between the two countries in various sectors.

The Philippines’s Ambassador to Iran Wilfredo C. Santos said on Monday that his country want to develop trade ties with Iran in agricultural, technical and engineering services, mineral materials and tourism.

He made the remark in a meeting with Mohammad Reza Karbasi, Deputy for International Affairs at Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) in Tehran on Monday.

The Filipino envoy noted the significant rise in bilateral trade volume following the 2015 nuclear deal, saying that trade exchanges between the two countries has downsized since the reimposition of US sanctions on Iran.

He stressed that the Philippines can provide bananas and pineapples while Iran sells cement, asphalt and steel.

Karbasi mentioned that more Filipino trade delegations need to come to Iran in a bid to get to known business opportunities in the country.
