The final report for the Field Studies of the Kyrgyz-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Iran (KTAI) road corridor has been published jointly by the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and the International Road Transport Union (IRU).

The document has been prepared in order to facilitate the realization of the transit, transport and communication potential of the region, according to a press release by the two organizations.

The KTAI corridor was launched in July 2020 following the first successful transport operation from Shahid Rajaee Port in southern Iran to Kyrgyzstan under the TIR convention.

According to World Bank reports, the total population of the four countries along the corridor stands at 128 million people and their combined total GDP equals close to half a trillion dollars. The launch of KTAI corridor is designed to tap into these growing markets.

The new report provides an analysis of the road transport environment in the ECO region with concrete data on trade and transport.
