Iranian parliament has rejected the outlines of the country’s next year budget bill.
In an open session on Tuesday, 91 lawmakers voted in favor of the budget bill, 127 others voted against it, with 10 abstentions.
President Ebrahim Raisi submitted the national budget bill for the next Iranian calendar year (March 2024-March 2025) to the Majlis (parliament) on December 1.
The private sector representatives had repeatedly argued that the proposed budget bill was vague and non-expert.
The government is constitutionally expected to make the necessary amendments to the budget bill and offer it to the parliament within seven days.
