Iran Chamber chief proposes barter system to overcome trade challenges

Samad Hassanzadeh, President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, announced that the chamber is actively exploring barter mechanisms as a legitimate trade route to address economic constraints and facilitate international exchanges.

Speaking at a Saturday meeting with representatives of four national steel associations, Hassanzadeh revealed that initial agreements have already been reached on specific commodities with certain countries.

“We have held several meetings with various bodies regarding the possibility of establishing such mechanisms,” he stated, adding that the chamber is working to identify key concerns and propose practical solutions.

The initiative also includes provisions for export-for-import arrangements within specific product categories.
