Iran-Ukraine Joint Chamber of Commerce has decided to form 12 specialized commissions to boost bilateral trade ties.
Iran-Ukraine Joint Chamber of Commerce Head Hamidreza Ghadi said that the new decision aims at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries’ private sectors.
IT, electronics, engineering, trade fairs, tourism, transportation, and legal commissions are part of the planed commissions, he said.
According to Ghadi “energy, transit and agriculture” are among the top potential areas for joint investment and cooperation between Iranian and Ukrainian businessmen.
Ghadi was among the trade delegation headed by Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture President Gholamhossein Shafei that visited Ukraine last week.
During the visit, the Iranian delegation met with Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv.
“We need to ease banking relations between Iran and Ukraine,” Iran-Ukraine Joint Chamber of Commerce head said. “Negotiations are underway with the Ukrainian side and some progress have been made for resolving banking issues.”
The Iranian delegation was comprised of 30 businessmen and representatives from 80 Iranian companies active in the fields of transportation, pharmaceuticals and tourism.
The visit coincided with the second Iran Export Fair, known as IEF 2017, which was held in the Ukrainian capital Kiev on Sept. 12-15.
Bilateral trade between Ukraine and Iran in 2016 stood at $745 million and Iran had a 1.93% share in Ukraine’s foreign trade in 2016.
