Iran’s flag carrier airline, Iran Air, has announced it is launching roundtrip Dubai-Lamerd-Dubai flights as of Sept. 27.
According to Sohrab Azizi, the director of Lamerd International Airport, the flights will operate on Sundays using an ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft.
Lamerd International Airport’s new passenger terminal was inaugurated on April 23 by President Hassan Rouhani via videoconference, increasing the airport's passenger capacity from 150,000 to 900,000 per year.
The expansion of the terminal, spread over 5,500 square meters, was implemented by over 400 billion rials ($1.46 million) investment, according to Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
The airport is located in the city of Lamerd in the southern Fars province.
