The development of Iran's Chabahar port could play a big part in Afghanistan's trade and transit of goods, the Afghanistan Chamber of cCommerce and Investment (ACCI) said in a communiqué.
The chamber welcomes India's equipping and development of the port, the communiqué added.
Iran's Chabahar port could be a good option for business enhancement when Afghan traders encounter many restrictions from the Pakistani side, it noted.
The communiqué has been released in the wake of the reports published in the Indian media that New Delhi is determined to speed up investment in Chabahar port.
A first batch of gantry cranes commissioned by India for operation in Iran’s Chabahar port arrived in the coastal area on the Sea of Oman last week.
The two mobile harbour cranes (MHC) are part of the first consignment of heavy equipment worth $8.5m which will be used for loading and unloading services for goods in the first phase of development plan for Shahid Beheshti port.
Chabahar, major connectivity project
The Chabahar project is a major connectivity program which will help India connect not only with landlocked Afghanistan but also Central Asia.
The project is also part of the International North-South Corridor that will connect Mumbai to Moscow via Iran and Azerbaijan.
The map shows how Chabahar Port in Iran can link India with Afghanistan.
