President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) has called for establishment of joint ventures between Iranian and Uzbek businessmen in order to boost trade between the two countries.
"Iranian companies are interested in developing trade and economic relations with the Uzbek side,” Gholam Hossein Shafei said in a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Furqat Sadiqov.
Agriculture, medicine, medical equipment, housing, automaking and transportation could be among the most important areas of joint cooperation between the two countries, Shafei said.
He also referred to the establishment of the Iran-Uzbekistan Joint Economic Committee at the Iran Chamber of Commerce and expressed hope that the Iran-Uzbekistan Joint Chamber of Commerce would be established as soon as possible.

Uzbekistan deputy foreign minister said that his country’s goal is to increase trade with Iran within the next five years and expressed hope that Iran-Uzbekistan trade would reach $ 1 billion by the time.
Referring to the growth of investment companies in Uzbekistan, Furqat Sadiqov announced appropriate sectors for cooperation between Iranian and Uzbek private sectors. Tourism, agriculture, mining and pharmaceuticals have potentials for joint cooperation, Sadiqov said.
Furqat Sadiqov further described holding of foreign exhibitions as one of the most important tools for achieving joint cooperation between Iran and Uzbekistan.
