Danish ambassador to Tehran Jesper Vahr said his country has never supported the US “maximum pressure” against Iran and is eager to see a revival of a 2015 Iran nuclear deal – known as JCPOA.
Vahr made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran on Monday with President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Gholam Hossein Shafei.
During the meeting, the two sides stressed the need to turn a joint commercial committee between the two countries into Iran-Denmark Joint Chamber of Commerce and welcomed holding a virtual meeting between ICCIMA and Confederation of Danish Industry.
The ICCIMA president referred to longstanding relations between Iran and Denmark and said that it is more than 90 years that the two countries signed the first bilateral agreement.
Shafei said that Denmark’s footprint is seen in Iranian industries, particularly in Iranian dairy industry, as Denmark founded the first dairy factory in Iran.
Iran and Denmark have also a long history of cooperation in pharmaceutical, cement and shipping industries, Shafei said.
Although economic relations between the two countries reduced due to the imposition of US arbitrary sanctions, part of the Danish industries remained in Iran and continued with their activities, Shafei noted.
The Danish ambassador, for his part, said that his country has never supported the US “maximum pressure” on Iran and is waiting for the revival of JCPOA so that the doors of the Iranian economy would open again to all the countries, including Denmark.
Vahr said that he has repeatedly been witnessing the eagerness of the Confederation of Danish Industry for further cooperation with Iran.
He however said that such cooperation requires the revival of JCPOA.
The ambassador also expressed hope for ratification of FATF bills in Iran, noting that it can, along with the revival of JCPOA, facilitate further cooperation between the two countries.
