Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade Reza Fatemi Amin said on Saturday that Iran has to focus on exports of commodities that are exported by fewer countries, noting that the country need to enter the field of exports of science-based products.
Fatemi Amin made the remarks during a ceremony in Tehran where he virtually launched Iran’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The ceremony was participated by heads of the county’s chambers of commerce and a large number of top Iranian exporters.
The minister regretted that Iran is exporting like countries with low manpower and high money.
“We have made heavy investments in upstream areas with low employment and added value,” he said, complaining that “we are still happy that we are exporting $14 million worth of petrochemical products.”
He argued that creating more jobs have to be taken into account in foreign trade.
Fatemi Amin said that Iranian top exporters will be ranked next year based on the goods and the countries to which they are exporting.
