President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Gholam Hossein Shafei said on Sunday that setting up a joint committee can help resolve the trade and border transit problems between Iran and Turkmenistan.
Shafei made the remarks during a meeting in Ashgabat with his Turkmen counterpart Dovletgeldi Rejepov.
The Iran Chamber president is in Turkmenistan’s capital to attend in the 4th ECO Business Forum which is being held on the sidelines of the 15th ECO Summit.
Shafei urged the need for implementation of a bilateral agreement between the two chambers which he said would require forming a joint working group of members of both chambers.
Referring to forming an Iran-Turkmenistan Joint Chamber of Commerce in Tehran, he called on the Turkmen side to launch a mirror chamber in Turkmenistan.
The Chairman of Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry said for his part that the ECO member countries should make use of the ongoing summit for promotion of trade and investment among themselves.
Noting that specialized committees on trade, banking and transportations have already been held and reached agreements, Rejepov expressed hope that with the implementation of these agreements, the problems of economic and trade activists will be removed or reduced.
