Iran and China announced the implementation of a long-term cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening their economic and political ties.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi made the announcement at a meeting in China's eastern city of Wuxi on Friday.
“The two sides agreed to announce the implementation of the 25-year strategic and comprehensive agreement between the two countries,” Amir-Abdollahian told Iranian reporters, after his meeting with Wang.
“We had made preparations so that we could announce today as the date for the launch of the partnership deal.”

The agreement was signed between former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi late in March.
China agreed to invest $400 billion in Iran in dozens of fields in including banking, telecommunications, ports, railways, health care and IT.
Xinhua quoted the Chinse foreign minister as saying that China is ready to work with Iran to implement the agreement, strengthen communication and coordinate actions, constantly enrich the connotation of China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership and open a new era for the development of bilateral ties for the next 50 years.
