Iran produced some 900,000 cars in 2021 to be called the world’s 19th biggest car producer, according to recent statistics released by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA).
The report shows that the world’s total auto production grew some 3% year-on-year to 80.145 million in 2021.
World auto production had fallen more than 13% in 2020 mainly due to the global outbreak of the coronavirus disease.
Iran’s auto production in 2021 shows a 2% increase compared to that of the preceding year.
Britain produced some 932,000 cars to stand above Iran on the 18th spot of the world top auto producers.
In the new report by OICA, Iran stood above Italy with 795,000 auto production, South Africa with 499,000, Poland with 439,000, Portugal with 289,000, Taiwan with 265,000, Belgium with 261,000, Austria with 136,000, Finland with 93,000 and Egypt with 23,000.
China with 26.082 million cars produced in 2021 was the world’s number one car producer by far followed by the US with 9.167 million, and Japan with 7,846 million.
