Iran’s 7th Five-Year Development Plan seeks to increase the country’s shrimp output to 160,000 tons a year, according to the head of Iran Fisheries Organization.
Noting that increasing productivity in the field of production and fishing is among the main policies of the organization, Hossein Hosseini said that apart from shrimp production, Iran also plans for an annual 850,000 tons of output of other seafood in the five-year development plan.
Iran Fisheries Organization has always been seeking to provide support for the private sector investors, he said, adding that this support will also be further increased during the implementation of the new development plan.
Data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration show a total of 36,300 tons of shrimp were exported from Iran to 22 countries in the last Iranian year (March 2021-22), registering a record.
