Latest figures by Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) says the country’s pistachio exports registered a dramatic year-on-year decline in the past Iranian year to March 21.
Iranian pistachio were sent to as much as 57 countries in the one-year period, according to the IRICA report.
The figures said that Iran exported some 56,298 tons of pistachio worth $405 million during the time span, registering a 58.4% fall in terms of tonnage and a 55.7% decrease in value terms when compared to figures from a year earlier.
Russia took delivery of 7,329 tons of Iranian pistachio in the past year to become the first importer of the product from Iran followed by India with 7,139 tons of imports.
Iraq, the UAE, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Germany, Turkey, and Tajikistan were other main importers of Iranian pistachio during the period under review.
