Iraq has completely settled an overdue debt to Iran for its gas imports from the country, according to an Iranian deputy oil minister.
Majid Chegeni, who also heads the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), told reporters on Sunday that “the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity has paid all its gas arrears to Iran and this debt is now zero. But sometimes there are problems to transfer money from TBI Bank to Iran.”
Meanwhile, Chegeni noted that Turkey had called on Iran to extend a gas supply deal to the country, adding hat the two countries are still in talks in this regard.
On Iran’s gas imports from Turkmenistan, the official said that negotiations over the issue are still underway.
