President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Hossein Selahvarzi has urged the need for the exercise of barter trade and using cryptocurrencies in bilateral exchanges with Vietnam.
He made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran with Vietnamese Ambassador to Iran Luong Quoc Huy.
Also speaking in the meeting, the Vietnamese ambassador congratulated the newly-appointed president of Iran Chamber of Commerce on being appointed to the post.
The ambassador noted that Iran is economically important for the regional and Asian countries and the entire world as well which he said is indicative of the country’s true foreign policy.
He said that his country’s parliament speaker is due to pay a visit to Tehran in August when he will be accompanied by some 70 Vietnamese businesspeople.
The ambassador added that the Vietnamese parliament speaker has also plans to visit Iran Chamber of Commerce during his stay in Tehran.
Speaking in the meantime, the president of Iran Chamber of Commerce referred to the global outbreak of the coronavirus disease and the Western sanctions on Tehran which he said have been hindering bilateral trade between Iran and Vietnam in recent years.
He, however, said that the Iranian economy has been making progress despite these problems although he believed that the economic relations between the two nations are lagging behind their cordial political ties.
“We are interested in developing business relations with Vietnam,” Selahvarzi said, adding that the establishment of the Iran-Vietnam Joint Chamber of Commerce shows the willingness on both countries for strengthening business cooperation.
He believed that in an upcoming visit to Iran by the Vietnamese parliament speaker, the two countries can explore ways to solve problems on the way of banking relations and discuss the exercise of barter trade.
The Iran Chamber of Commerce president also called on Vietnam to ease visa requirements for Iranians.
