Some 9.47 million metric tons (mt) of steel were produced in Iran in the first three months of the current Persian calendar year (March 21 – June 22), according to latest statistics by the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).
Iran’s three-month steel output showed a 10.5 percent hike compared to last year’s corresponding period.
The ISPA report posted a 5% increase in the total production volume of steel products, with sponge iron production also registering an 8.2% year-on-year growth.
The report added that 5.95 million mt of steel products were produced in the March-June period.
An earlier report by the World Steel Association indicated that Iran’s production of crude steel accounted for 70% of Middle East’s total output during the first five months of 2023.
