Iran Chamber of Commerce and the UNICEF have agreed to set off a joint plan of action for cooperation on skill training, social responsibility and children’s nutrition.
The agreement was made in a meeting in Tehran between President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Hossein Selahvarzi and UNICEF Representative in the Islamic Republic of Iran Robin Nandy.
Speaking during the meeting, the Iran Chamber of Commerce president said that the Chamber of Commerce has offered skill training plans in which some 100,000 job seekers will be trained in different producing units so as to be prepared for the job market.
Selahvarzi also said that the Iran Chamber of Commerce has created a social responsibility committee which is due to pursue the issue of children’s nutrition and provide stationery to students in the less privileged areas of the country.
He added that the Innovation Center of Iran Chamber of Commerce has also plans to focus parts of its activities on job creation and giving a boost to businesses and startups active in the area of job creation.
The UNICEF representative, for his part, referred to the UNICEF plans for skill training among Iranian teenagers, noting that the UN body regards Iran Chamber of Commerce as a key partner in materializing these goals.
Nandy said that UNICEF intends to increase the skills of young workforce based on the needs of the country’s job market.
He added that UNICEF is ready to share experiences with Iran private sector in the area of social responsibility.
