Some 50% of Iran’s foreign trade is being carried out with West Asian countries, according to the director of West Asian department of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO).
Farzad Piltan made the remarks in an online meeting on Saturday with Iranian cultural attaches in 17 different countries.
Also speaking during the meeting the TPO Deputy for International Businesses Mohammad Sadeq Ghannadzadeh referred to the appointment of the new Saudi ambassador to Iran and said that the Saudi ambassador has expressed readiness to organize an economic meeting between the private sector actors of the two countries.
He also said that measures are underway to lift the visa requirements for Iranian and Saudi businesspeople.
The official noted that some 20 Iranian commercial attaches have currently been dispatched to different countries and Iran plans to increase the number to 35.
