The latest report by World Steel Association (WSA) suggests that Iran’s steel output in January 2024 has grown 39.9% year-on-year, putting the country at the ninth place of global ranking among top steel producers.
The report said that Iran’s steel output in January hit 2.6 million tons.
It also put the global production of the mineral in January 2024 at 148.1 million tons which is down 1.6% compared to that of January 2023.
Although the leading world steel producers have witnessed a decline in output, Iran, Russia, India, Turkey, South Korea and Japan have registered increases in steel production.
Iran posted the largest year-on-year growth with a 39.9% increase followed by Turkey whose steel production in January saw a 24.7% rise in comparison with last year’s corresponding month.
