The International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) has recently issued a report of top world auto makers which puts Iran on the 16th place.
According to the OICA report, Iran produced over 1.188 million vehicles in 2023 standing on the 16th place of world ranking of auto producers.
Iran’s auto production registered a 12% increase compared to that of 2022 when the country produced 1.064 million vehicles.
China was the world’s leading auto producer in 2023 with an output of 30.16 million, followed by the United States and Japan with 10.61 and 8.99 million outputs respectively.
Auto production is Iran’s third largest industry after oil and gas industries, accounting for 10% of the country’s GDP.
Some 4% of the Iranian workforce are active in the auto industry.
