Iran’s petrochemical output is estimated to reach 80 million tons in the current Iranian calendar year to late march 2025, according to the head of the country’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Morteza Shahmirzaei, Shana reported.
It is 2 million tons less than figures provided by Ahmad Mahdavi Abhari, the director general of the Association of Petrochemical Industry Corporation (APIC) in May when he put the Iranian annual petrochemical production at 82 million tons.
Shahmirzaei also said that Iran’s petrochemical exports in the previous calendar year to late March stood at 30 million tons.
Ahmad Mahdavi, the secretary of Iran’s Association of Petrochemical Industry Employers, said in September 2023 that petrochemicals accounted for over 30% of Iran’s non-oil exports in the calendar year to late March.
He added that exports from the sector had amounted to $16 billion in the year to March 20, 2023 during which total Iranian non-oil exports had reached some $53 billion.
