Iran has imported some 15.7 metric tons of goods valued at $26.3 billion in the five calendar months to late August, with unprocessed gold, animal corn and cell phones being the top three import items, according to the head of the country’s customs administration.
Mohammad Rezvanifar said that the figures indicate a 7.93% rise in terms of weight and a 5.53% increase in value terms compared to figures reported in last year’s corresponding period.
The UAE, China, Turkey, Germany, India, Russia and Hong Kong were the top seven countries exporting goods into Iran in the period under review, the official said.
He also put the country’s exports of non-oil commodities in the March-August period at $21.9 billion marking a 10% year-on-year increase.
Rezvanifar said that the Iranian exports of non-oil commodities in the five-month period totaled 60.5 million metric tons up 7% from the same period of last year.
He noted that liquefied natural gas, liquefied propane, and methanol were Iran’s three main export items in the mentioned period, with China, Iraq, the UAE, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India being the top seven destinations of Iranian commodities.
