Iran has imported some 15.688 million tons of non-oil goods at the worth of $26.317 billion in the five calendar months to August 21, according to a report by the country’s customs administration (IRICA).
The IRICA report published on Monday said that the figures indicate a 7.93% rise in terms of tonnage and a 5.5% increase in value terms.
The UAE was the top importer of goods to Iran with $8.08 billion worth of exports to the country accounting for 30.72% of the Iranian imports in the timespan.
It was followed by China with $6.9 billion worth of exports to Iran which was responsible for 26.6% of Iranian imports in the period under review.
Turkey, Germany, and India were also the third to fifth importers of goods to Iran in the March-August period respectively.
The report also noted that Iran’s foreign transit hit 9.61 million tons in the five-month period, up 52,86% compared to that of last year’s corresponding period.
