During a televised address on Monday night which marked his second public appearance in the state TV since taking office, Pezeshkian outlined the achievements of his administration during its first 100 days and highlighted critical challenges in energy, housing, and economic sectors.
“We are facing severe imbalances in energy, including electricity, gas, and water. Our per capita electricity consumption is several times that of other countries, yet our production levels fail to meet the demand,” Pezeshkian said.
The president called for expert-driven solutions to address these issues, noting that anyone capable of contributing to resolving the energy imbalance is welcomed by this administration.
Highlighting past challenges, Pezeshkian noted that energy shortages have disrupted industrial production, with power cuts impacting factories during the summer. “This year, instead of increasing production, we faced additional difficulties. Our power plants cannot meet our needs, and our per capita electricity consumption surpasses that of countries like the UK, Canada, and Germany,” he said.
Pezeshkian also warned about the consequences of mismanaging resources, stressing the importance of preserving them for future generations. “If we fail to manage our resources effectively, we will leave a scorched earth for the next generation,” he cautioned.
The president reiterated his administration’s commitment to economic recovery, assuring that interventions will be carried out with consideration for the livelihood of citizens.
