Trade between Iran and Germany increased by 7% in the first nine months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, according to the latest data from Federal Statistical Office of Germany.
While overall trade rose, Iran’s exports to Germany fell by 11% during this period. The total trade volume reached €1.15 billion, with German exports to Iran accounting for €982 million, and Iranian exports to Germany amounting to €170 million.
In September 2024 alone, bilateral trade totaled €112 million, marking an 18% decline compared to €138 million in September 2023.
Germany’s top exports items to Iran in the nine-month period were vehicles and industrial machinery, valued at €415 million, a 14% increase year-on-year. However, German exports to Iran in September 2024 dropped by 18%, from €122 million in in the same month of 2023 to €100 million.
Iran’s top export category to Germany was food and livestock, valued at €80 million, reflecting a 22% annual growth. Despite this, Iranian exports to Germany in September 2024 decreased by 25%, falling from €16 million in September 2023 to €12 million.
