The Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) is seeking to deepen trade ties with the United Arab Emirates by proposing the formation of a joint working committee to leverage the UAE’s re-export potential for Iranian goods.
Qadir Qiafeh, Vice President of ICCIMA, said the proposal aims to establish closer institutional cooperation between Iran and the UAE through a dedicated body involving the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCI).
Speaking during a meeting with Humaid Mohammed bin Salem, Secretary General of the FCCI, held at the ICCIMA pavilion during Iran Expo 2025, Qiafeh also announced plans to open the first representative office of ICCIMA’s Trade and Investment Development Agency in the UAE.
“The agency will eventually expand to other countries as well, focusing on attracting investment and facilitating joint economic cooperation,” he said.
Iran has already launched a joint chamber of commerce with the UAE, Qiafeh noted, but emphasized the importance of establishing a mirror chamber on the Emirati side to enhance bilateral collaboration.
“Our suggestion is to set up a working committee between the Iran Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry to make use of the re-export advantages through the UAE,” Qiafeh said. He added that the committee would work on aligning Iranian products with international quality standards in cooperation with the UAE.
Bin Salem welcomed the proposal, highlighting the capabilities of business communities in both countries. “With proper guidance from our respective chambers of commerce, we can channel this capacity into effective partnerships,” he said.
He identified transportation, customs, logistics, and food sectors as areas ripe for private sector cooperation. “There’s a significant opportunity for Iran to export through the UAE, but Iranian traders must comply with global standards,” bin Salem said, expressing readiness to share the UAE’s experience with Iranian businesses.
