The President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture has called on President Masoud Pezeshkian to ensure that government bodies, particularly the Central Bank, adopt a more facilitative approach toward production, trade, and foreign currency earnings from exports.
In a letter addressed to the president on Tuesday, Samad Hassanzadeh highlighted mounting challenges facing producers and exporters, citing two recent directives from the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) that have caused further complications for exporters.
"Given the strict regulations imposed by the Ministries of Industry, Mine and Trade, as well as Agriculture, and the Central Bank, not only will the slogan of the year fail to materialize, but the country’s economy may also experience a sharp decline, with many production units facing shutdowns in the current year," Hassanzadeh warned.
The letter also referenced the ongoing impact of international sanctions, which Iranian officials frequently describe as part of a broader economic war. Hassanzadeh emphasized that in such a context, policies and decisions by government institutions – particularly the Central Bank – should actively support the export sector and facilitate hard currency inflows into the economy.
