Senior advisor to Leader urges private sector to play bigger role in economy

A senior adviser to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution says the country needs greater involvement from the private sector to overcome economic challenges and counter pressure from the United States.

A senior adviser to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution says the country needs greater involvement from the private sector to overcome economic challenges and counter pressure from the United States.

Mohammad Mokhber told members of Iran Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday that “the enemy’s plot is based on economic problems, and the private sector can nullify this US weapon by increasing production and profitability.”

Mokhber pointed to Iran’s “vast economic capacities” and said history showed that “after wars and crises, opportunities for economic growth usually emerge, and Iran is no exception.”

He said the country’s resources exceed its current needs and called this “a major strength for the national economy” that requires precise and targeted planning to exploit.

“Today, more than ever, the country needs the participation and leadership of the private sector, and the state must fully support it,” Mokhber added. “This leadership is the key to solving many economic problems and boosting production.”
