Iran, Armenia to launch joint digital platform for trade matchmaking

Iran Chamber of Commerce and the Armenian Embassy in Tehran have agreed to develop a joint digital platform aimed at connecting businesses from both countries and boosting bilateral trade.

Iran Chamber of Commerce and the Armenian Embassy in Tehran have agreed to develop a joint digital platform aimed at connecting businesses from both countries and boosting bilateral trade.

The decision was made during a meeting on Sunday between Hamed Asgari, deputy for international affairs department at Iran Chamber of Commerce, and Hayk Nazaryan, commercial attaché at the Armenian Embassy in Tehran, where the two sides reviewed the current state of economic ties and explored ways to expand cooperation.

Asgari said a recent memorandum of understanding between the arbitration centers of the two nations’ chambers of commerce – focusing on resolving commercial disputes – was a key step toward building trust and transparency in bilateral trade.

He said Iran and Armenia are pursuing a long-term goal of achieving balanced and mutually beneficial commerce, which he noted requires practical mechanisms to optimize export and import opportunities.

The two sides also discussed using business networks in third countries to help identify potential partners and strengthen connections between Iranian and Armenian companies.

The meeting produced agreements to enhance direct contact between chambers of commerce and companies, identify firms interested in cooperation, and pursue the creation of a joint four-party committee involving chamber and customs representatives from both sides to address issues related to certificates of origin and border procedures.
