Senior business leaders from Iran and Sri Lanka met on the sidelines of the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) to discuss ways to boost bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
Qadir Qiafeh, vice president of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, held talks with the president of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) in what they described as a “constructive” meeting.
Qiafeh highlighted the geo-economic positions of Iran and Sri Lanka along key Asian trade routes and called for stronger engagement between the two countries’ private sectors, including more frequent exchange of business delegations and a larger role for chambers of commerce in advancing economic ties.
Both sides expressed hope that continued interaction would lead to a new and more effective phase in bilateral cooperation.
The meeting also noted that direct charter flights between Iran and Sri Lanka are set to begin this month, a move expected to facilitate business and tourism links.
