Chamber head says Iran-Kuwait trade talks after 12-year gap mark turning point

The resumption of a joint Iran-Kuwait trade commission after 12 years marks a turning point in economic relations between the two countries and signals renewed political will to deepen cooperation, the head of the Iran-Kuwait Joint Chamber of Commerce said.

The resumption of a joint Iran-Kuwait trade commission after 12 years marks a turning point in economic relations between the two countries and signals renewed political will to deepen cooperation, the head of the Iran-Kuwait Joint Chamber of Commerce said.

Ebrahim Gholamzadeh Zangeneh said the 13th meeting of the Joint Commercial Commission, recently hosted by Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, sent a “clear and reliable signal” to the private sector that both governments are committed to strengthening economic engagement.

“When a joint commission meeting is held after such a long interruption, it shows that the two governments have formed the will to consolidate the path of economic cooperation,” Gholamzadeh Zangeneh said in an exclusive interview with the official news portal of Iran Chamber of Commerce.

He described the meeting as a major shift in bilateral economic relations, saying it represented an important step toward reactivating formal cooperation mechanisms with Kuwait and could pave the way for a reconfiguration of economic ties between the two neighbors.

According to Gholamzadeh Zangeneh, the final document of the meeting was signed by Kuwait’s deputy minister of commerce and industry and the head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization.

“The signing of this document at a high level shows the readiness of Iran and Kuwait to move into the operational phase of cooperation,” he said.

He added that the Iran-Kuwait Joint Chamber of Commerce aims to raise bilateral trade to $1 billion and establish sustainable financial and transport mechanisms to support long-term commercial exchanges.
