Iran exports to Oman rise about 30% in nine months, chamber official says

Iran’s exports to Oman rose by about 30% in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year, reflecting continued growth in trade between the two countries, a senior business official said.

Jamal Razeghi Jahromi, head of the Iran-Oman Joint Chamber of Commerce, said trade volumes between Iran and Oman had steadily increased over the past three to four years, and efforts were underway to further expand bilateral commerce in the coming year.

He said longstanding friendly political relations between the two countries had helped strengthen commercial ties and boosted confidence among private sector businesses.

Razeghi Jahromi said one of the main challenges to expanding trade was the relatively low risk appetite among Omani businesses. He added that Iranian traders have traditionally focused more on larger Persian Gulf markets, especially the United Arab Emirates, which accounts for significantly higher trade volumes with Iran than other regional partners.

He said greater efforts to build trust and engagement could help redirect more Iranian business activity toward Oman and support further growth in bilateral trade.
