A week after Iran came under a major US-Israeli offensive, a senior private sector official says the reserves of the country’s essential goods are at an appropriate level.

Eshaq Bandani, the chairman of the Agricultural Commission of Iran Chamber of Commerce, said on Saturday that imports of essential goods into Iran are still ongoing via various destinations.

He said that the structure of Iran’s goods supply has been shaped in a sophisticated way over the past recent years so as to ensure the inflow of goods even during the crisis times.

“Although the ordinary people consider the southern ports as the only gateway for imports into Iran… goods are coming into the country from different marine and land routes,” Bandani said.

He also highlighted the importance of domestic production of crops, noting that wheat harvest season will begin in southern parts of the country soon which will play a significant role in meeting domestic needs.
