Iran urged to facilitate imports amid emergency conditions

A senior official at Iran Chamber of Commerce has highlighted the need for the country to facilitate imports amid emergency conditions to help the continuation of production and ensure the supply of the mostly needed essential goods.

Ahmadreza Farshchian, the chairman of the Import Commission of Iran Chamber of Commerce, said that many of the country’s import regulations were designed for normal times, stressing the necessity for easing these regulations during wartime.

“The central bank and the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade have to adapt the regulations to the emergency wartime conditions so as not to cause any problem for production, imports and supply,” Farshchian said.

He noted that Iran is now facing problems in meeting its needs from some supplying countries which may lead to some shortages.

He urged the government, the Trade Promotion Organization and the Central Bank of Iran to ease the regulations governing imports into the country.
