North Khorasan sees high potential for essential goods supply from Central Asia

North Khorasan province’s private sector has significant potential to supply essential goods from Central Asian countries, and with route optimization could soon become a main gateway for such imports, officials said at a meeting hosted by the Bojnurd Chamber of Commerce.

The gathering, organized by the chamber’s export development and import management commission in cooperation with its education and research department, brought together provincial managers and private sector activists to discuss border province authorities in the field of essential goods imports.

Abbas Kazemi, chairman of the Bojnurd Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, highlighted the province’s strategic location. “With optimized routes, this province will soon become one of the main gateways for essential goods into the country,” he said.

Ali Servati, director general of economic affairs at North Khorasan’s governorate, said that local businesses could focus on strategic items such as rice, cooking oil and pulses.

He added that given volatility in the protein market, permits for live animal imports have also been added to the list – a step aimed at stabilizing the market and lowering red meat prices for consumers.
