Iran’s private sector sets up supply chain with friendly nations to safeguard wartime imports

Iran’s private sector has drawn on successful logistics models to establish a sustainable supply chain with friendly countries, aiming to ensure continued imports and production stability under wartime conditions, the head of the Ahvaz Chamber of Commerce said.

Speaking at a board meeting of the chamber, Shahla Amouri said that in response to restrictions on direct entry of certain goods into Iran, an agreement has been reached to use regional capacities to retrieve stranded containers.

Amouri noted that the operational details of the plan, which can be implemented across all borders with friendly neighbors, have been finalized. Following negotiations, she said, Iraq has declared its readiness to act as a “third country” to help resolve the status of shipments stuck in ports such as Jebel Ali due to the political stances of some regional governments. Those shipments will be rerouted through Iraqi ports, including Basra, and returned to Iran.

She reported initial success in bringing back some of the containers, adding that efforts continue to transfer hundreds of remaining containers through intermediary companies and by altering trade documents, in order to prevent hefty costs and further losses to Iranian traders.

Amouri described the approach as essential for preserving international markets, stressing that economic operators, as “ambassadors of peace,” must not allow trade relations to be disrupted. “Establishing new transit routes is seriously on the agenda,” she said.
