Iran Chamber vice president urges import facilitation to secure essential goods supply

Iran must accelerate its import procedures and avoid relying on a limited number of traders to ensure the timely supply of highly needed goods, the vice president of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture said.

Iran must accelerate its import procedures and avoid relying on a limited number of traders to ensure the timely supply of highly needed goods, the vice president of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture said.

Abdollah Mohajer Darabi told the news website of Iran Chamber of Commerce that more than two months into the imposed war, the enemy’s strategy of applying economic pressure on Iran has failed to achieve its objectives.

“The enemy thinks that by putting economic pressure on Iran, it can achieve its goals and defeat the Islamic Republic,” Darabi said. “But the Islamic Republic’s establishment and the people stand firmly against the enemy.”

He called for speeding up the import process as a critical step to meet society’s needs on time, saying all government bodies and the central bank could help remove bottlenecks.

“We must be able to carry out imports quickly, and we should not limit ourselves to just a few importers – we need to use all capacities,” Darabi said.

He also emphasized targeted support for production units, which are currently struggling with working capital and liquidity shortages. Effective support, he said, would allow manufacturers to retain workers while ensuring consumers receive products at reasonable prices.

On taxation, Darabi urged authorities to take the exceptional economic circumstances into account and act based on expert assessments when levying taxes on enterprises.
