Iran and Turkey are about to hold their Joint Economic Commission in a bid to coordinate efforts to reach their $30bn target in annual trade volume.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who was visiting Iran on Friday, said Joint Economic Commission (KEK, in Turkish) will be held between the two countries.
He said Iranian president's chief of staff Mahmoud Vaezi and Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian will soon travel to Ankara to lay the groundwork for the meeting.
Çavuşoğlu and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif discussed in the Iranian city of Isfahan regional issues, the possibility of using national currencies rather than the U.S. dollar and signed a document to cement their mutual strategic partnership, Anadolu News Agency reported.
The two countries seek to cement theri mutual trade ties especially as both are under the US pressure.
Ankara and Tehran are thinking about setting up a joint bank to help alleviate the US restrictions on international banking ties with Iran.
Turkish Airlines office in Isfahan
Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines has opened an office in the Iranian city of Isfahan in a bid to increase it clientele as Iran and Turkey move fast to consolidate their mutual relations.
