President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Gholam Hossein Shafei and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, in a meeting in Doha on Monday, signed a cooperation document.
The document was signed during a visit to Qatar by a high-level Iranian trade delegation for a joint economic cooperation commission between the two countries.
Under the terms of the document, the two sides are expected to form a joint trade council which will operate under the supervision of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The trade council will also keep in close contact with Iran-Qatar Joint Chamber of Commerce so that the businesspersons of the two countries will identify and remove the obstacles on the way of cooperation.

Also during a meeting earlier in the day between Shafei and Bin Jassim, the chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, referred to his country’s willingness to further promote trade ties with Iran and said that Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry is fully resolved to provide support for exchanges between the private sectors of Iran and Qatar.
Referring to the existence of problems on the way of trade relations, he said that Qatar is ready to do its best to remove the hurdles.
Bin Jassim hailed the positive political relations between Iran and Qatar, and said he was sure that the two neighboring countries will develop the same relations in trade area.
The President of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, for his part, said that the expansion of economic relations will further bolster political ties.
Shafei said that Iran is determined for more enhanced trade exchanges with Qatar and is even ready to replace some other countries with Qatar in its trade ties.

In a Qatar-Iran Joint Business Forum in the Qatari capital held on the same day, the Iran Chamber of Commerce president presented some proposals for improvement of trade relations between Tehran and Doha.
Shafei proposed that the chambers of commerce of both countries form a special investment committee.
He also called for setting out a roadmap plan between Iran and Qatar to increase trade relations so as to give a boost to trade exchanges up to $2 billion in the short term.
The visit to Qatar a by a high-level Iranian private sector delegation is taking place after a February visit to the Persian Gulf country by President Ebrahim Raeisi where the two sides signed 14 cooperation documents including a deal on cancelling visa requirements for passengers travelling between the two countries.
