Heading a 60-strong politico-economic delegation, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in the Polish capital of Warsaw on Sunday evening as his first destination in his tour of the region.

The top Iranian diplomat plans to hold talks with senior officials of the four European countries, and the accompanying delegation will discuss opportunities to boost economic relations.

“Business people from different fields including tourism, banking, insurance, construction, agriculture and mining are among the economic delegation visiting the four European countries,” said Mohsen Jalalpour, head of Iran Chamber of Commerce who is accompanying Foreign Minister Zarif.

“These countries are considered as the gates of Europe and would further provide new trade opportunities with the Eurasian region,” Jalalpour said.

The Iranian delegation’s visit to Warsaw comes after a high-level Polish delegation, including pharmaceutical, chemical and railway executives visited Tehran in September 2015 to discuss new trade opportunities in Iran following the implementation of the landmark nuclear agreement reached between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries in July 2014.
