The energy minister of Armenia is scheduled to pay an official visit to Tehran in the near future to discuss energy cooperation with Iranian officials, a report said.

Levon Yolyan is planned to travel to the Iranian capital soon over energy talks, Armenia’s Hraparak reported recently.

The newspaper also said that the Islamic Republic has increased its gas exports to its neighboring country at Yerevan’s official request.

The rise in the export came after Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Exports Company (NIGEC) Alireza Kameli announced earlier that the country is going to export gas to Georgia through a supply station at a border village used for delivering gas to Armenia.

Iran has built a 113-kilometer pipeline between its northwestern city of Tabriz and Nurduz border crossing to export gas to Armenia.

In 2004, the Yerevan government also initiated construction of Iran-Armenia gas pipeline. The pipeline became fully operational in 2007.
