All spring fairs across Iran have been cancelled due to the extraordinary situation caused by the spread of the new coronavirus, according to the head of Iran Guilds Chamber.

In a letter to all provincial guild chambers, Saeed Mombeyni added, "Given the special circumstances of the country and at the recommendation of health authorities on avoiding all and any public events to prevent the spread of the virus, all spring and seasonal fairs will be cancelled," ILNA reported.

These events are organized several times every year, more prominently in the runup to the Norouz (Iranian New Year) holidays (March 20-April 1) for directly supplying locally produced goods, including rice, sugar, oil, pasta, tomato paste, red meat, chicken, eggs, milk, butter, yogurt, chocolates, nuts, bags, shoes, apparel and detergents, at lower prices to the public.
