A delegation from Iranian local chamber of Khorramshahr meets with board members of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce in Istanbul, Turkey March 8, 2022.

Chairman of Iranian local Chamber of Khorramshahr Hani Feisali said on Tuesday that Iran and Turkey can act as a linking bridge for transit between the East and Europe which requires further efforts of officials from both countries.

Feisali, who is on a visit to Turkey heading a delegation of businesspersons from Khorramshahr Chamber, made the remarks during a meeting with Vice President of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Israfil Kuralay.

He said that one of the objectives of his visit to Turkey is to introduce the capacities of Arvand Free Zone and to help boost trade relations and investments between Iran and Turkey.

He regretted that despite being one of the industrial hubs of Iran, the southwestern Iranian province of Khuzastan has not been able to have a proper presence in the Turkish market.

Noting that Khuzestan has a huge capacity for exports of agricultural, steel, oil and petrochemical products to Turkey, Feisali also said that there is room for imports of Turkish food, clothing and electronics to Khuzestan.

The Turkish side, for his part, said that Turkish businesspeople are highly eager to promote trade ties with their Iranian partners.

Kuralay believed that the private sectors of Iran and Turkey can have a big share of international exchanges of the region, underlining the need for boosting bilateral cooperation, particularly in untapped areas like Arvand Free Zone.
